Apple announced the release of Vision Pro headset, officially declaring the beginning of the spatial computing era. Apple also unveiled the new MacBook Air, new Mac Studio, and showcased new systems such as iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10. The Vision Pro headset will be priced at $3,499 and will be officially released in the US market in early 2024. Apple named this MR product Vision Pro, stating that it will usher in the era of spatial computing. Along with this product, Apple also introduced the 15.3-inch MacBook Air with the M2 processor, the new Mac Studio with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, and new systems such as iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10 at the WWDC conference. Here are the main products announced by Apple at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC): Vision Pro is regarded as a step into "spatial computing" and is the first device that Apple users will see that can display applications in their space. Applications can be expanded within a space, and multiple applications can be placed in one space and arranged according to the user's needs. This includes 2D app panels and 3D targets, and a complete view of the local environment can be achieved if the user desires. Vision Pro is equipped with the M2 chip and a new R1 chip, with the latter primarily responsible for transmission. Apple claims that the transmission speed of the R1 chip is faster than blinking. In addition, Vision Pro uses the visionOS operating system and has a dedicated app store. For security purposes, Apple has introduced Optic ID as an iris scanning system. According to Apple's plans, Vision Pro will be released in the US market in early 2024 and is expected to enter other markets throughout 2024. 15-inch MacBook Air with 18-hour battery life Apple has released a new MacBook Air with a 15.3-inch display and the Apple M2 processor. Apple states that the new MacBook Air 15 is only 11.5mm thick, making it the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world; it weighs 3.3 pounds (approximately 1.5kg). In terms of ports, it has MagSafe and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. The product is priced at $1,299 and is now available for pre-order, with official sales starting next week. Mac Studio with M2 Max and M2 Ultra The new Mac Studio is equipped with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, both of which are independently developed chips. The M2 Ultra chip will also be the last product in the Apple M2 series. Apple stated at the conference that the M2 Ultra chip consists of a 24-core CPU and a maximum of 76-core GPU, supports up to 192GB of memory, and can handle up to 22 streams of 8K ProRes video editing. The new Mac Studio is priced at $1,999 and is now available for pre-order, with shipments starting on June 13 and sales in Apple official retail stores. 3. New Mac Pro, Replacing Intel Chips with M2 Ultra The new Mac Pro is equipped with the self-developed M2 Ultra processor, which retains the same design as the previous model. The aluminum metal chassis with a stainless steel frame allows easy access to various components and numerous configuration options. The M2 Ultra processor used in the Mac Pro provides up to 3 times the performance compared to the previous fastest Intel-based Mac Pro. It can be equipped with a maximum of 76-core GPUs, delivering a performance improvement of 7 times compared to the Intel version, capable of simultaneously processing 24 streams of 4K videos. The new Mac Pro starts at $6,999 and will be officially released on June 13th. 4. iOS 17 Released, Simplifying Siri Activation Apple announced iOS 17 during the event, introducing a range of upcoming changes for iPhones. The company also announced updates for three applications: Phone, Facetime, and Messages. - Personalized contact posters allow users to select photos or Memojis for other users' business cards. Phone voicemails will now be transcribed in real-time. - Facetime will finally receive the voice message feature, allowing users to leave video messages for their friends. - Users can now share contacts, music, internet, or other shared activities between two iPhones or Apple Watches by placing them together, using a feature called "NameDrop." - iOS 17 also introduces a new Stand By app designed specifically for MagSafe stands, displaying clocks, calendars, and other information when the phone is in a horizontal position. - Apple has changed the wake-up phrase for the virtual voice assistant Siri from "Hey Siri" to "Siri." Here are the key details about macOS Sonoma: - New gaming features leveraging Apple's powerful graphics processing unit and the Metal 3 technology framework. - Widgets will make their way to the macOS desktop, previously only available in the Mac's Notification Center. Like on the iPad, they will be interactive. - Screensavers from tvOS will be included in macOS Sonoma. 7. AirPods Software Update, Introducing Adaptive Audio Apple announced new audio and home experience features, including a new function for AirPods headphones called Adaptive Audio. Here are the main new features of watchOS 10: - Users can rotate the digital crown to display widgets such as weather and calendar. - Apple introduced new apps, including a world clock that features a background color reflecting the time of day. - When users rotate the digital crown, it displays a new full-screen view. - Two new watch faces are available, including Snoopy and Woodstock. - Users have access to new workout features such as cycling and hiking.
